As a Virginia Workers Compensation Lawyer & Social Security Disability Attorney I have been fighting in Virginia for the rights of workers, workmen or workwomen with work place injuries, workers comp claims, social security disability claims, denial of claims & disability claims since 1973.
I first began representing injured and disabled claimants while practicing law for the Central Virginia Legal Aid Society in Richmond, Virginia. In 1978 I became the managing attorney for that agency.
In 1984, I began my own law firm. I have continued my specialization in the areas of Social Security Disability and Workers' Compensation. I have been recognized by a survey of 2,000 attorneys in the July 1999 issue of Richmond Magazine as one of the best Workers' Compensation attorneys in the Central Virginia region. I have lectured on Social Security Disability issues and Workers' Compensation topics before various groups. I have dedicated myself to providing aggressive legal respresentation to the injured and disabled worker. In 2003 by Martindale-Hubbell awarded me an "AV" rating which is the highest rating awarded by that organization.
In 1998 Rose Fauntelroy joined by firm as a litigation paralegal. She has now been with me 10 years! She has been a tremendous asset to the firm.
In 2005, 2006 & 2007 the Bar Register of Preeminent Attorneys invited me to be in that publication as a result of my "AV" rating.
I am a member of the American Bar Association, the National Association of Social Security Representatives; a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association; a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Subcommittee on Workers Compensation; a member of the Richmond Bar Association and I have my own informal City of Richmond Workers Compensation workgroup.
I have practiced in the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission, the Virginia Court of Appeals, the Virginia Supreme Court, the Social Security Appeals Council, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit. Just this month, I won a significant Virginia Workers Compensation case in the Virginia Court of Appeals--Central State Hospital v. Beckner.
